UNFOLD
Decolonising architecture began as the anchor for UNFOLD, which was established to work towards intervening in the educational curriculum at the Cambridge Architecture Department. Decolonising approaches to architecture seek to challenge Eurocentric forms of knowledge by insisting on plurality and positionality of situated and reflexive approaches to spaces and their meaning. As such, decolonisation in the work of UNFOLD means creating spaces and resources for dialogue among all members of the university on how to imagine, envision, and respect all cultures and knowledge systems within the teaching and framing of architectural education.
Through a series of talks, a workshop, and lunchtime meetings, UNFOLD hosts debates and interventions into what decolonisation means for architectural practice and education.

Decolonising Architectural Education
Hosted at the University of Cambridge, this day-long event brought together seven educational institutions from across the UK to discuss what decolonisation means for architecture, and what pathways we might collectively take to act. From this workshop, we assembled a booklet covering the positions and ideas from each participant, suggesting avenues for moving the conversation forward.
